Problem: Artist and pastoral counselor, Marion Williams, needed an instructional guidebook to use for arts therapy workshops that she was offering in Manhattan. This workshop had a strong community outreach component. Marion also wanted this instructional book to serve as a curriculum guide for teachers and counselors that wished to help their students work through various hands-on art projects. Solution: We created a variety of typographic and page layout samples. These samples included photographs that were provided by Marion, as well as typographic layouts that selectively incorporated the color of the photos. The project included the design of a new logo, and the overall branding was later used in the design of a new website.

Problem: Ed Page was looking for a clean and precise looking website to reflect the quality and style of his glass doors. The various site pages needed to describe the materials and craft of his work, and to showcase his projects. Finally, the site needed to be easy for the visitor to navigate. Solution: We explored different typographic systems. The goal was to have the fonts and headings be easy to read, and to support the minimalist aesthetic of the doors themselves. Quick links were added to the Home page, highlighting the materials with which the doors are made.

Q: Changing Leaves Brochure

Problem: Entrepreneur, David Horgan, needed a flyer to describe and promote a new service that he was offering. The service itself was based on a relatively new trend in the care of hospitalized patients, and the providers of this service were known as "hospitalists". The brochure that David had in mind would include thought provoking questions about sensitive issues surrounding old age and hospital stays. David wanted the brochure to offer an uplifting feeling for people that were faced with difficult questions. Solution: The Sevenfold Studio created a variety of page layout templates. All of these templates were based on the theme of Autumn, and were centered around the idea of the changing colors of the leaves. The project included designing a consistent page heading, along with a new logo. As a way of providing the reader with some visual relief in what was mainly paragraphs of text, images of different leaves were incorporated into the design.

Q: Yalber (Logo and Font Branding)

Problem: As a startup, the owners of Yalber were looking for an overall set of branding elements and guidelines. They needed a cohesive look that could be used for both printed materials and for their website. Solution: We set up a comprehensive branding system that included logo design, typographic design, and general layout design. This system included recommendations for font sizes, paragraph spacing, margins, banner sizes.

Q: The Fed Magazine (Spread)

Problem: The Federal Reserve Bank of New York wanted to redesign their internal publication. They wanted the page layouts to be more dynamic, yet still maintain a clarity in the magazine's overall organization. This involved creating different styles for the departments, features and columns to help the readers to easily navigate through the magazine. Solution: We created different layout styles based on whether the content of the magazine fell under the category of department, feature or column. This distinction would help the readers easily navigate the publication. At the same time the use of recurring visual elements — such as the section tabs on the left and right margins of the page spreads — helped to give the piece an overall coherence.
